Dundee overview

Dundee is just up from Perth on the Firth of Tay in the Scottish east and is one of the country’s top cities. If you can understand what the locals are saying – they seem to have their own dialect - they will tell you that ancient Dundee is Scotland’s sunniest city on account of its southerly facing. Although Dundee is not the most happening place and you needn’t really venture this far if you have already seen Edinburgh, farther south, it does offer a more relaxing stay and has a vibrant music scene and a load of museums and galleries. It also has a collection of old ships, such as The Discovery and HMS Unicorn, and there is lots of scope for getting active. Fishing and sailing are among the most popular pastimes and there are plenty of bars and pubs to duck into for afters.
