Edinburgh overview

Edinburgh Travel Guide
The Scottish capital is the country’s main urban highlight and resides down in the southeast on the Firth of Forth. Its location is one of its main draws, spread as it is across a hillside with the labyrinthine Edinburgh Castle looking on. Edinburgh is wholly medieval and grand and has an unbeatable atmosphere at any time of the year, and in particular during the annual Edinburgh Festival and New Year’s Eve (Hogmanay). The castle is well over 1,200 years old and offers the finest views after Arthur’s Seat, while the nearby Royal Mile is great for ambling and shopping. Other must-see sights are the Scottish Parliament and the city’s collection of fine museums. Edinburgh International Airport receives flights Europe-wide.
