Perth overview

Perth Travel Guide
Scotland’s Perth is a little chillier and less remote than the Aussie version and is also more historic. The former Scottish capital sits up on River Tay in the heart of the country and was known for the Black Watch, and today, for its museums and gardens. If you’re heading up to Aberdeen from Edinburgh, it is definitely worth stopping off in Perth, although is perhaps not worth the hassle on its own merit. The best way to see the town’s history is on the Old Perth Trail to check out the historic quarter and its many churches. Shopping and eating is best enjoyed along St John’s and High Street where you can pick up traditional Perth products. You can also see where Mary Queen of Scots was holed up on an island in Loch Laven.
