St Andrews overview

The home of golf and Scotland’s finest university, St Andrews is a cute old centre between Edinburgh and Dundee in the east of Scotland. Non-members can actually play at St Andrews’ Old Course, where locals have been swinging away since the 1400s. It’s quite pricey, however, and you will need to have proof of club membership elsewhere, together with useful handicap. There are several other links golf courses if you don’t get to hack around the Old Course as well as miles of coastline to wander about along. The ancient Castle of St Andrews, with its cliff top setting, is one of the main landmarks around St Andrews and St Andrews University is another, with its fine collection of old buildings. Edinburgh International Airport is the nearest.
